Policy Working Group (formerly EU Task Force)
The aim of The Arctic Six – Policy Working Group is to generate ideas for, plan, coordinate and conduct The Arctic Six interactions with relevant bodies of the European Union. It also focus on research policies at a Nordic level.
This interaction is important for The Arctic Six because it generates information on plans and priorities in the EU pertaining to The Arctic such as funding calls and new Arctic policies, and possibilities for The Arctic six to influence EU decisions on Arctic issues. The interaction is also important to the EU, as it provides opportunities for policy makers in the EU to utilize the unique expertise on the Arctic available within The Arctic six.
The Arctic Six Policy Working Group also focus on research policies at a Nordic level and the scope for action one can achieve by applying for external funding sources, such as, for example, NordForsk and national research councils.
The group organizes meetings, workshops, forums and conferences in the EU, in close collaboration with partners at the north Swedish, north Finnish and north Norwegian EU offices and other organizations.
