Co-creating resilient futures in the Arctic through food
Design Research Professor Danielle Wilde was appointed Arctic Six Chair in August 2024. Over the next two years, she will engage with stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and policymakers in the North to explore challenges and opportunities for imagining new futures through food. This innovative research project can help create a more sustainable future for the Arctic and beyond.
Arctic Six project will reveal forests’ role in climate change
PROFILE Ecologist Daniel Metcalfe was appointed Arctic Six Chair in August 2024. During the coming two years, he will initiate his research project on measuring carbon stocks and fluxes in Arctic forests. This project will help deepen our understanding of the role that Arctic and boreal forests play in the climate system.
Exploring the future of food and nutrition in the Arctic
PROFILE Professor in Food, Nutrition and Meal Science Armando Perez-Cueto was appointed Arctic Six Chair in August 2024. During his two-year chairship, he will explore sustainable food transition in the Arctic. The proposed activities can lead to a more sustainable and healthy future for the people in the Arctic, as well as the rest of the world.
Arctic Six project strives for a more secure future for the Arctic
PROFILE Political scientist Niklas Eklund was appointed Arctic Six Chair in August 2024. Over the next two years, he will work on a project that aims to bring together actors in the Nordic region within security issues to collectively advance Arctic security. The project can contribute to a global understanding of the region's significance and challenges.
Arctic Six Chair examines the future of Arctic teacher education
PROFILE Educator and historian Björn Norlin was appointed Arctic Six Chair in August 2024. In his role as Chair, he will investigate teacher education at Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish universities to find new ways to include Sámi content in the programs and courses.
