Arctic Six to host major forum on Arctic security in Oulu in June 2026.
The Arctic Six alliance will convene leading experts, policymakers, researchers, and regional stakeholders for the Forum on Arctic Security: “Total Defence and Total Security in the North” in Oulu on 16–17 June 2026.
The two-day event will address the rapidly evolving security landscape of the European Arctic through presentations, panel discussions, and hands-on co-creation workshops.
The upcoming forum follows the success of the inaugural Forum on Arctic Security: Total Defence in the Fennoscandian Arctic, organised in Tromsø in April 2025.
That event attracted widespread interest across the Nordic region, prompting Arctic Six member universities to continue the dialogue and expand joint efforts on security research and preparedness.
A call for collaboration across the North
The 2026 forum will explore three core themes critical to Arctic resilience: total defence, transportation, and preparedness in the North.
These topics reflect growing geopolitical shifts and the need for enhanced cooperation between academia, defence actors, communities, cities, and industry partners in the North.
The forum aims to strengthen collective capabilities and foster long-term initiatives to support stability and security in the region.
